After securing his 6th WSOP bracelet just a few days ago during a WSOPE event, Chris Ferguson has now earned himself another title, the 2017 World Series of Poker Player of the Year award. The poker pro is set to be crowned the official player of the year after the WSOP made the announcement on Twitter this past week. Second in points player John Racener was eliminated from the final eligible event of 2017, which means that there is no way Ferguson can be beat.
For the 2017 WSOP Player of the Year win, Chris Ferguson will be given an entry into the WSOP Main Event for 2018, which has a value of $10,000. He will also be placed on a banner that the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will display, which will also feature the faces of other Player of the Year and Main Event winners of the WSOP.

Back in October, Ferguson was competing in the World Series of Poker Europe holding the lead when it came to points within the Player of the Year race. He managed to cash out 17 times during the 2017 WSOP with top finishes in the $10,000 championship events of this years’ series.
Once he won Event #7 of the WSOPE at King’s Casino, he managed to extend his point lead in the Player of the Year race as the last qualifying event drew near. Racener was in a good position to potentially pass Ferguson in the qualifying event but was eliminated on Day 2, which secured the title for Ferguson.
